Rome in Italy guide to Hotel accommodation and travel
Accommodation and Hotels in Rome Italy
Rome
Italy and romance have always gone hand in hand and Rome is certainly no exception.
You’ll discover a warm-hearted city packed full of artistic splendour and culinary temptation at every turn.
Affectionately referred to as the 'Eternal City', Rome is both a happening and historic capital, with plenty to appeal to people of all ages. Situated around halfway down Italy’s western side, the city is a convenient 2½-hour flight from the UK. So within no time at all you can be exploring the glorious architecture, wealth of art galleries, or just stopping off to enjoy a quick espresso as you take in the full glory of your new surroundings.
With so much on offer it can be difficult to know where to start. However don’t be daunted, whilst you probably won’t see all the city’s gems, unless you’ve booked a very long holiday, you’ll certainly get to see some very special sights during your stay.
The classic saying of, ‘When in Rome do as the Romans do,’ is easy enough and involves no hardship at all. Simply deck yourself out in some new Italian clothes, preferably designer if you can afford it, don a pair of ultra cool shades, and take to the city streets. Rome is fairly compact making it ideal for those on foot. Alternately, if you really want the full on Italian experience you can always hire a Vespa to race around town on as the locals do.
When it comes to eating out you’re in for a real treat. There are lots of restaurants to choose from. Naturally the trendiest ones vary all the time but more often than not it is the simple family run trattorias that offer the most authentic experience and best value for money. Perhaps then take a trip to the Teatro dell’Opera the ultimate choice for true opera fans, or for something a little more modern check out what’s on at the Parco della Musica.
