Things to Pack for Rome

Packing up for very your own Roman holiday? Well, it's always wise to make a list of things to ensure that you arrive at your vacation spot all prepared and ready to dive into the holiday feel. Here we will briefly discuss what to take on a roman holiday, from an Anti Cafard, to a roman map. Rome, the capital city of Italy, presents an extremely rich cultural heritage. One that you are bound to enjoy. The best part about it is the diversity of sightseeing options from Trevi Fountain to Roman Palaces.

Grabbing a reliable guide map of Rome should be your top most items. You can easily find one in your nearest bookstore. Taking a guide map from home will not only save your time and effort but will also boost your self confidence, very much required in traveling without a travel guide. Also travel light. Do not fuss about your clothes other than their fabric, which should be light as the weather in Rome can be slightly warm for people accustomed to air-conditioning. The traffic and significant amount of tourists make it simply impossible for you to travel with a heavy luggage in any local transport. So save you breathe by only packing the essentials.

Like any other trip, do not forget to put in a hand sanitizer and tissue wipes. Rome, like most of tourist spots, has ill provided washrooms lacking in toilet papers most of the times. A mosquito repellent along with an anti cafard and disinfectant soap shall accompany your purse, not the travel bag. You might need it at any sight tour or pass by motel. Packing a small electronic fan is wise, just in case the weather gets too warm for comfort. Ideally a small bag for medical supplies, like painkillers, and a small bag for personal hygiene items should accompany you. Umbrella is useful if you plan to travel during September and April; Rome rainy months. (more...)

Some lurking dangers of the Enernal city

All the wonderful impressions you may get from taking vacation or a long-term trip to Rome can be irrevocably spoiled by some unpleasant surprise. But forewarned is forearmed so here are the darker things in Rome that you should be aware of to ensure safety of your wallet and health.

You may know or may not, but Rome has the 2nd largest rat population in the world after New York - about 15 millions. The pests are usually fought with Raticida or "rat poison" locally, but if you are squeamish then better beware of the back streets and ditches to save yourself an unpleasant encounter.

Second hidden danger is represented in the form of child pickpockets. If you find yourself surrounded with a flock of wide-eyed and innocent kids trying to grab your attention by trying to sell newspapers or enforce a fortune-telling session with cards that suspiciously remind you random pieces of colored cardboard then you are in for a trouble. Hold on fast to your wallet and don't be tricked into a feeling of false security which may come to you when you see their respectable-looking matron mother. They really are after your pockets.
